A study app for the United States CDL written knowledge tests. There are 26 chapters. Each one starts with a video lesson from Dani, then gives you practice questions. There are 592 practice questions. Every question has a written explanation and names its source: the section of the CDL manual or the part of the federal rules it comes from.
You can study in five languages: English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish. In each one, the app's words, the questions, the lesson text and Dani's voice are in that language. The lesson videos are in English and in Spanish. If you study in Russian, Ukrainian or Polish, you watch the English video, and the app tells you so.
DANAI is a study aid. It is not the required entry-level driver training (ELDT), it does not issue any certificate, it cannot register you for a test, and it does not guarantee a passing result. It is not an official exam or manual, and it is not endorsed by any DMV or state agency. DANAI is not an ELDT training provider, and using it does not count toward ELDT. Practice questions follow the AAMVA model CDL manual and the federal regulations; they are a study set and do not cover every question on every state's exam. Choosing your state saves the choice for later; it does not change the questions. Your state's own manual and its current rules are the authority for your test. Using DANAI does not count toward ELDT, and it does not certify your driving or your English. It is not a tool for roadside inspections or for official English tests. No licensed CDL instructor has reviewed this content. No app can promise you a passing result.
Study only when you are safely parked, away from moving vehicles. Answering by voice still needs the app open and your attention. Practical lessons support supervised training; they do not replace it. Use your state's current manual, applicable rules and qualified instruction for training and licensing decisions.
Dani is an AI instructor. Her name, face and voice are synthetic, made for the app. She is not a real person, has no driving career and holds no CDL, and we do not claim she does.
The first time you open DANAI, choose your study language and tap Start. Dani then shows you around in four short steps. You can skip them, and replay them any time from Settings with "Show me how DANAI works".
The app has four tabs at the bottom:
Stuck on a page? Look for the Show me button. Tap it, and Dani explains that page.
The Orientation chapter is free, the whole chapter: its video lesson, its 22 practice questions with explanations and sources, spoken practice, and your mistakes from it. Nothing expires and nothing counts down. One payment opens the other 25 chapters, the 60-minute timed test and your mistakes from every chapter, for good, on the same Apple Account. It is not a subscription. The price is the one the App Store shows in the app.
The timed test has 50 questions and 60 minutes. You see your answers at the end. A quick call is OK: more than 2 minutes away from the app ends the test. You can't come back to a test later.
Tap any chapter after Orientation. On the screen that opens, tap "I already paid". Make sure the iPhone is signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase — a purchase belongs to an Apple Account, not to a phone. You will not be charged again. If it still does not open, tap "Write to us" in the app, or email us the date of the purchase, and we will help.
Apple handles all purchases and all refunds. Use reportaproblem.apple.com, or Settings > your name > Media & Purchases > Purchase History on the iPhone. We cannot issue a refund ourselves.
Lessons download the first time you open a chapter and then stay on your device. Connect to Wi-Fi, leave the chapter screen open while it fetches, and if it stalls, close the app fully and reopen it. If your iPhone is short on storage, iOS can remove downloaded lessons to make room; opening the chapter again fetches it back. While a lesson can't play, you can still read it and practice the questions.
Answering by voice is optional, and it works in your study language. Say "option" and the letter, for example "option B" (in Spanish, "opción B"). You can also ask Dani to repeat or skip a question in your language. You can always tap an answer instead, and you can turn Voice guidance off in Settings. Nothing in the app requires you to hear or say anything.
Voice answering uses Apple's speech recognition. It runs on your iPhone when it can; for some languages it needs the internet, and the app tells you when it does. If the microphone is not hearing you, open the iPhone's Settings > DANAI and make sure Microphone and Speech Recognition are allowed.
Choose Español at first launch or in Settings. All 26 lessons have a Spanish recording, with Spanish captions and Spanish lesson text, and the 592 practice questions are shown in Spanish. The video was filmed in English, so her mouth follows the English take. Test language and requirements vary by state and test type; confirm them with your licensing authority. English technical vocabulary can also be useful in your training: the app shows the English term beside a technical term.
Choose your language at first launch or in Settings. The app's words, the 592 practice questions, the lesson text and Dani's voice are in your language. The lesson videos are in English, and each lesson says so. This help page is also in Russian, Ukrainian and Polish: Русский · Українська · Polski.
Chapter practice saves itself when you stop, and you can pick it up where you left off. Questions you miss go to "My mistakes" so you can come back to them. Reviewing a mistake never changes the score of the practice you already finished. Your finished scores are in "My scores".
Every question and answer is on the screen as text. The app's words follow the text size set in your iPhone's Settings. The screens lay out in one column at the largest text sizes, and they are labeled for VoiceOver. If something is hard to use, tell us and we will fix it.
If you believe a question or explanation is wrong, tap "Write to us" in the app, or email us the question wording and the answer you think is right. We will check it against the manual and correct it.
